Hello everyone!!

I have been fascinated by animals of all kinds ever since I was a little kid, and I always had a soft spot for the "less-popular" animals, such as reptiles. Forget Saturday morning cartoons - I had Animal Planet to watch! I have always been especially fascinated by snakes - I find them absolutely mesmerizing and to this day I cannot understand how it is that people do not see the inherent beauty in these creatures.

When I was a kid, I distinctly remember telling my mom how, as soon as I moved out and had my own place, I would get a pet snake.

Well, it has been several years since I've moved out, and I do not have any pet reptiles yet. In the past two or three years, I've been conducting more in-depth research into reptiles as companion animals.

I finally - within the past six months - explained my love of snakes to my husband and finally helped him at least see a glimpse into my passion for these animals. (He was certainly wary when he glimpsed over my shoulder one day and saw me researching snake care, so having him come around is a huge step).

Our current agreement is that we can get a snake when we move into a house... But I've been obsessing with snakes for years now, our lives are pretty stable (all things considering) - heck, I'm even the breadwinner. And so.. I'm kinda secretly hoping we can get a snake sooner rather than later. My hope is that with more knowledge and information I can perhaps persuade him to allow a pet snake into our lives.

My husband and I currently live with our three cockatiels, who we adore. Although our avian dinosaurs keep us busy, I do feel that I am finally in a position in my life in which I could take on a pet snake and give him/her an amazing life.

I look forward to getting to know you all and learning from your experiences!

Welcome aboard Wings! It’s great to see new keepers enter this wonderful hobby. Snakes make great pets. Once you get the husbandry dialed in they’re pretty easy to care for. Best wishes!
