Hello, I am new to this group. Please don't bash me for this because this is my first snake, I have a very serious question though. I recently bought a ball python at a reptile expo. After getting her home I noticed she had an odd physical appearance, so I started doing some research. Apparently the people I got her from at the reptile expo were over feeding her. I need to know how to fix this and to get her body to a consistent shape and size. Please help me. I want what's best for her and I want her to be healthy and happy.

Hello, and welcome. I don't have personal experience with this issue, but just wanted to tell you not to beat yourself up. No one will bash you.

The issue itself, if it's simply a matter of the snaking having been overfed in the past, shouldn't be a huge issue to solve, based on what I've read and seen on YouTube.

But I'll let people with real experience give you advice. Good luck.

How large is the ball python? If you make a total of 5 posts on the forum them you can share pictures.

If your python is truly overweight, and is an adult, then you can space out meals to one appropriately sized prey item every 3 weeks until it reaches an appropriate size. I would not necessarily put your snake on a diet yet, though. Spacing out meals for a juvenile python would not be good, and even a healthy adult would be better served eating once every one to two weeks (depending on whether it is full grown, breeding, etc).
