hey all,
I'm really worried about my Western hognose who has been twitching a lot recently.

Is she just dreaming cause I've never seen her do this before. My first thought was mites (she looks like shes being bit) which is why all her bedding and hide is out at the moment.

i figured it out, she was just abnormally sensitive to the provent a mite spray. after washing her off a few times and keeping her warm she recovered. i treated my other two snakes at the same time with the same spray to wipe out all the mites at once, so it just seems she was highly alergic or something since the other two had no reaction.
I’m sorry you’re going through this. Definitely take her to a reptile vet ASAP.

Yeah that's not normal. You need a vet if you can find one

I believe that hognoses are known to have a reaction similar to that to provent-a-mite. I know that you said that this started before you thought mites were an issue, but is it possibly that your snake has been exposed to some sort of chemical? I know that we've been doing a lot of sanitizing these days, perhaps your snake was exposed to something? Or, any chance you're using pine shavings instead of aspen, coco coir, etc? The chemicals in pine or cedar could do that too.
Barring a chemical issue, it could have something to do with the husbandry; for example, excessive heat, dehydration, etc. Can you share the details of your husbandry, cage size, heat sources, how heat is regulated, etc?
