Isopods in Bioactive Tank

I initially I only put 5 A. vulgare "Punta Cana" in my vivarium for my kingsnake. At one point I wasn't sure if any had survived. Clearly, they had. They do a great job of cleaning up the snake waste. Here they are with a bit of sweet pepper.

I use isopods as a clean up crew as well. Couldn't tell you which species. I do have to say that I was surprised to see how expensive the little guys are if you buy them rather than harvest them from your yard.

Oh yeah, there are some expensive species out there (of course they are the most colorful ones...)

Yeah, I have 5 species at home - I've found them to be fun and see all the offspring. All mine have been pretty affordable like in the $1-2 range per isopod for the "expensive" ones. It's crazy when you get to the $30-50 per isopod range which includes rubber ducky isopods. They look super cool and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want some (see link below if you want to see a pic).
