Due to a few unfortunate events around 13 months ago, I have found myself in possession of an approximately 30x12x12 inch long tank. The tank has just been sitting in the corner of my living room since so, after much consideration, I have finally decided to fill it. I would consider myself fairly inexperienced when it comes to owning reptiles, the only two I've ever had are my ball python and my crested gecko, who are both doing well at the moment. I think I am ready and I'm willing to put in the work. The only issue is I'm not 100% sure what I want. I was thinking probably some sort of snake but am open to lizards too. If you have any recommendations that would be much appreciated, thank you in advance! :)

Welcome! What about African house snakes? There are also Rosey boas, hognose, milk snakes?
Lots of snake options!

It really depends on what you're looking for as a pet. Do you want something you can handle and chill with? Do you want more of a display animal?
There are literally hundreds of directions you could go. So help us narrow it down for you. Tell us what you'd like in a pet and we can propose ideas based on your guidelines.
African house snakes all the way! I stumbled upon my little guy, Mouse, while looking to add a colubrid to my household, and I absolutely adore him. Great eater, very docile and tolerant of handling, and extremely curious. My only complaint is that he is the first snake that I've ever had that will actually take flying leaps off of you when he wants to explore somewhere. But otherwise, he's an absolute gem

I'd go for a trinket snake or a hognose :D
