Hi all. Can you use two(2) heat pads in a 40gal tank for my Python?

If you're looking to increase ambient temps it's important to understand that heat mats (UTH) are designed to provide a hot spot and not for ambient temps.

So unless the room the snake is in remains above 78-80 or so you'll need an additional heat source. Your options are heat lamp with bulb, heat lamp with CHE or lastly a Radiant Heat Panel.

Lamp and bulb = least expense. But bulbs burn out fairly quickly and also drain humidity.

Lamp and CHE = a bit more expensive, but still pretty cheap. Lasts a lot longer but also zaps humidity.

RHP = most expensive, but definitely the best option. Does not drain humidity like the others and lasts a LONG time.

I've seen plenty of people use 2 heat mats, but I prefer to actually use the equipment the way it's designed. It's kinda like using a skateboard to travel instead of a car. It can be done, but why bother when better options are available?

IMPORTANT REMINDER: ALL HEAT SOURCES MUST BE REGULATED BY A THERMOSTAT.
