Beginner snake keeper here

Hello! Note that I'm a newbie. :)

Though I haven't bought a Corn Snake yet, I'm debating whether to have an Albino Corn or just a normal (non-Albino) one. I live in Malaysia that's why it's always hot here and I heard that UVB are harmful for Albinos. You see, I would like to take my snake out for walks. So is it true that UVB is harmful for them?

And can I handle them often? Will they get stressed if I handle them daily?

I don't know if it's been scientifically proven that UVB is harmful to albino snakes. I've always found that albinos tend to have some light sensitivity so I'd be careful going out for walks daily.

Yes they can be handled daily. I would just wait 24 - 48 hours after eating to handle though.

Welcome to the forum! Just a quick note that walks may stress the snake out a little, so don't do it too often.

hello ppl. im new here an pretty new to owning snakes.. i have three. a ball reg ball python, an albino snow corn snake and a fire ball python. so im wondering, i just started using compressed coco husk made by exo terra. what im wondering is if i need to keep it moist or can i leave it dry. if i need to keep it moist how often do i need to spray it.. i dont like one thing an could use some advice.. in my fire balls tank well i use plastic totes with lock on lids.so his has a humidty reading of 99% since i put the coco husk in.. i know this is to high for him.. i have plenty of vent holes on his tote.. how can i reduce the humidty..

Corn snakes are freaking awesome. They have very even temperament, there not picky eaters. I've done switched from live to frozen back to live an now she is back on frozen, no problem. I have a complete albino snow corn snake. I handle mine just about every day for an hour or two an I haven't had any problems. They can be very active an wriggle a lot an try to get away from you till they get used to you. I've had her for about eight months. The only problem I'm still dealing with is she poops on me sometimes. It use to be Evey time I took her out but since she's gotten bigger. I had her has a hatchling it's not as often as she is about three ft now. What I live is there sociable an very curious about there environment an surroundings. I would definitely get one. I take her on walks as well an it hasn't hurt her yet.

Snakes are not social animals. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR SNAKE FOR WALKS.

If you want an animal you can take on walks please choose another pet.

UVB is definitely not harmful to an albino. I use it with my albino striped corn snake and he's doing great. Never had any problems feeding, shedding, etc. Mine is still a hatchling and does well with handling, though I only handle him 1-2 times a week for 10-15 min at a time. That's what is recommended per care sheets, etc. I've read online. I had an almost 6 foot albino corn snake about 10 years ago and he was great with handling and even would crawl and would rest zig zagged through the mohawk I had at the time.

And is it normal for them to sleep all day and be active at night?

Yes and yes.

You're a massive predator to the snake. As a tiny baby they instinctively know this and do their best to hide.

I’m getting a corn snake but my ambient temp in my tank only gets as high as 70f user belly gets 85... is the ambient temp ok or should I get some other heat source other than my uth?

They get most of their heat from their bellies. 85 is a decent temp for a corn. Depending on the type of enclosure you have you can supplement with a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) or a light. Obviously that won't work if you use plastic totes

Drilling more holes is about all you can do if you're set on using the coco. It holds water like crazy which is why I prefer newspaper in my totes
