Hey there!

Got two Carpets in a local shop. Seller says that one is Zebra-Jaguar and one is Jungle (but I don't trust his knowledge). I think it's vice verse.
Please help me identify which is which.

1. Zebra-Jag (as per the Seller)

2. Jungle (as per the Seller)

I read much about neurological problems with Jaguars but I really doubt that the Seller is right with who is who. And I believe Google proves I'm right.

Please help ASAP. Thank you very much.

We can't visually confirm the genetics of carpets because there's so many crosses out there. The first picture resembles a jungle/zebra more. The 2nd picture is definitely a jag, even though I have no idea what the pairing could have been. You can usually tell jags by the reduced patterns.

As far as my limited JCP knowledge goes, and based on my small collection of JCPs, they both look like Jungle CPs to me. #2 looks rather nice to me, but #1 is normal with the exception of the yellow tipping in the black.

To me, a zebra should have more concentrated stripes...

I would agree w Ziggy...and you are correct about the seller mis-labeling them.

Pic 1 labeled as "zebra-jag" looks like a normal carpet python (unless you have documentation of "pure" JCP blood) it's likely a jungle/coastal mix of some sort. Not really seeing a lot of zebra? If you can get pics of the sire/dam to confirm zebra genetics, that would help.

Pic 2 labeled as "jungle" is a jaguar morph (a coastal carpet python pattern aberrancy). Again, with the jag in pic 2, there is probably some mixture of JCP/CCP down the line.

Regardless, beautiful snakes! Both look like they have some really nice yellows.
