Its very hard to see in the grass, all I see is something brown.I dont think its venomous because there are no venomous snakes in the U.S.A that look like that and your country say U.S.A.if your in australia I might be worried.
Its probably some type of brown snake.I dont know what state your in but you can google "snakes native to your state" and it should have a list of snakes found in your state.I still would not handle it just in case its an exotic pet on the loose from another country.
Its likely some type of harmless brown snake

Oh dang, you are one lucky person! That's not a snake at all, it's a legless lizard!!
I've always wanted to see one. That's so cool wow
Veronica is correct...it's a legless lizard (a.k.a. glass lizard). Not sure of the exact species as it would depend on your location.
I see them every now and then. They're extremely quick and will sometimes break off large chunks of their body when grabbed.

Ewww, they seriously do that?? That's gross!
Ewww, they seriously do that?? That's gross!Yep! I've heard that it happens pretty often with them, but I've only witnessed it once. It broke a decent chunk off when I first grabbed it, and then let a second significant piece break off as I was trying to put it back down.

And that's why they are called glass lizards :D
They are mostly tail, so it's like any other lizard dropping their tail, although it's a bit more freaky because it looks so much like their body is shattering.
