I have 3 children amd we live in an area with many Rattlesnakes and Copperheads. If this is a poisonous snake, i will need to kill ot. If it is harmless, I will release it. It is a baby and tried to escape me. Seems docile...or at least it did for a while after captivity. I honestly do not want to take any chances somce i am nearly 45 minutes away from the nearwst hospital. Thank you.

If it didn't rattle it's not a rattlesnake. It's also not a copperhead. Looks like a garter snake. Harmless.
You shouldn't pick up or mess with snakes you are unsure if they are dangerous or not. You could end up bitten quite easily.
Best to call someone. I'm sure animal control or there's a snake relocator/wrangler in your area.

My phone is so outdated i cant upload images or the website image thing.
This little guy was trying to get away from me and did not act aggressive. However I live in an area that has many Rattlesnakes and Copperheads. I am no snake expert but i me it appears harmless. I could be wrong. So please help. If I didnt have 3 small children i would just let it go, even if it was venomous. If it is harmless I will free it. Otherwise... :(

100% agree. Venomous or not, just leave them alone. If they're in your home make a phone call to animal control.
No need to harm an innocent animal.
Snake pictured is harmless. Also absolutely no reason to kill anything even if venomous.

It's most likely a dekay's brown snake. Completely harmless and eats worms and slugs.
Good for your garden :D

Agree with Veronica, it's a harmless Brown snake.
I'd also like to add that you don't "need to" kill snakes, venomous or not. They are a valuable part of the ecosystem and, despite their venom, pose very little threat to people who aren't trying to capture or kill them.
Yes, dekay's Brown snake. Nonvenomous and about full grown.

If you find any snake venomous or not be respectful and dont kill it, any snake helps the enviornment.
