Hello all. I was just curious to hear everyone's thoughts on the history of snakes? were they here since prehistoric times? Are they an older reptile then the alligator and crocodile? Have they existed since the dinosaurs roamed the earth? Have their fossils been found? All your thoughts are appreciated.

I would explain my thoughts, but they go against the guidelines of this forum. Doesn't mean I'm not holding on to what I think anymore though.

@Stonfield: You know, there is something revolutionary new in the internet – they call it a “search engine”…

How about using Google ?

If you search for something like

first snakes on earth
prehistoric snakes

you can find all the answers you are seeking.

I don’t mind answering questions and I am always glad to help, but I would usually expect the asking person to have done at least a little research of his/her own before asking basic questions.

Agreed. The evolution of snakes isn't a great mystery. Most of it's available to read. We don't know everything, but we know the basic lineage and time frames.
