Tuesday afternoon our local PD was called to remove a "very large aggressive snake." TWRA was called and this guy was caught safely by a local herper. I had already contacted the wildlife agency as they had missidentified this snake as a venemous (poisonous) snake and said that it would be relocated away from people. Luckily between me nagging and the other guy rescuing he was brought safely to my home. He was far from aggressive, though a bit jumpy. I'm thinking he is a Central American Boa, but he is really dark so I'm wondering if anyone else can help id him. His name is Severus and he is a little over five foot. He is in quarentee away from my other three at this time. He surprisingly is healthy as a fiddle and has no parasites according to the vet.

Hi
looks like a nice bci (boa constrictor imperator (bi now)or common boa to me, he may be coming into shed and boas can have some drastic colour changes from day to night and depending on mood, mine do. he was probably a bit frightened too, good job you rescued him good luck

Beyond saying he looks like a normal BI, there's no real way to identify him, unfortunately. His appearance does not suggest Central American, but most boas in captivity are mutts anyways.

Glad you were able to pick him up, relocating him somewhere else would have been a bad idea...if he's already calmed down, he should settle right in and get less jumpy with some time to relax. :) Congrats, and good luck with the little guy!
