I have plans for a multi-species paludarium. This little guy will go in it eventually. In over 35 years of keeping reptiles, this is the first time I've ever kept a garter snake. He's been super cool in the couple of weeks I've had him. I think these guys are underrated.

That is the cutest little creature I've seen all day!
Now you've got me wanting a garter snake.
[Must quit looking at this site. Too much temptation.]

Fun vid! I can't wait to see the paludarium. Sounds like it's going to be great!

Nice! Garters are definitely fun, quirky snakes. A good snake for keepers who want an easy pet that will be interactive and inquisitive.
I'm not looking forward to the old age though...both of mine are 5.5 years old, so they're middle-aged now. I might get the same amount of years out of them, but not much more than that. :(

Just watch out for fish that harbor thiaminase in their systems...it can be very harmful, and even deadly to snakes.

Thanks y'all!
And, yes, I know about thiaminase. I have a list of fish with and without it. But, I plan to give him a varied diet anyway.
