I mentioned a little while ago that I had some carpet python eggs incubating. They were "due" to hatch July 21. I checked on the eggs every couple days during incubation (mostly for air exchange purposes) and when I checked the eggs on July 15 I found that several eggs had hatched.

I currently have 9 babies out of the egg, 2 halfway out, 3 that I think will hatch and 3 that may be still born.

The pairing was a normal IJ and a jaguar IJ. I'll get more pics up as I get them settled out of the incubator.

Thanks everyone. I do have one more out of the egg. The rest are just having a leisurely birth.

Something that I find interesting is the variability in the colors of the normals. Some of them are initially as light as their jaguar siblings. Also amusing, I gave them all little perches and one little guy has already assumed that classic carpet hunting pose.

Cool. Did you open all eggs to help weak babies come out ?

Primarily, I opened the eggs because it isn't likely to harm the babies.

My secondary concern was that rotting eggs that had already hatched could pose a risk to hatched and unhatched babies. I wanted to verify, by slitting eggs, that I only disposed of empty or bad eggs.
