Unknown snake eggs with picture

Hello friends. I was digging in my garden this morning and I came across these eggs. My first thought is a garder snake. Can anyone shed some light on which species of snake these eggs are from? I’m in Ridgefield CT. There were only 4 of them but I didn’t keep digging. I covered them back up with dirt. Thanks I’m advanced any input!!

Garter snakes give live birth. I'm not completely familiar with all of the snakes up there. Maybe racer eggs?

Could be a northern black racer. I'm not familiar enough with the species up there to have any more of an educated guess. How big are the eggs?

1 inch 3/4. Leathery and soft.
