last week ares would not eat at all. This week he is doing the same, i thought i was giving him too big of rat, so i got a smaller one this week. he is doing the same thing shows very little interest then almost a fear if the rat (live) he wont eat frozen he is picky. should i wait another week and try again? or take him to the vet? thanks

The snake might just be going through a hunger strike. If you see that there's something wrong with it, however, do take it to the vet.

2 weeks is nothing. In the last week I had snakes end fasts of 13 weeks, 13 weeks and 5+months.
What species of snake? What does he weigh?
How often are you offering? Offering too often can stress the snake and end up leading to more refusals.
I would wait a week and offer again.
Also, how and what time of day are you presenting the meal?

Try offering every 14 days instead of weekly. If he's still refusing then offer every 3-4 weeks. If your husbandry is dialed in and the snake isn't losing a lot of weight just wait them out. They'll all eat when they're hungry enough.
