Once, in a list of classified ads, I came across one that says the company's feeder mice are farm-raised.

What are the benefits of such prey items in comparison to those from other locations?

I would think that anyone that raises mice could use that phrase—after all, if you breed a lot of them, it’s basically a “farm”. And where they come from, a city, a farm, etc. is of no consequence as long as the “farming” facility is clean and the rodents healthy. You could ask the one question I’ve never asked...are growth hormones or antibiotics used since that could affect your snake.

As long as you're getting your prey items from a reputable source, they are basically all "farm raised"
