Catchy title, I know ;)

After we needed to sell our melanistic male Orion I decided I won't go back to breeding Russian ratsnakes. He was one of my fav snakes and even if my logical part knew selling him was the best option I'm still sad about it. So this year clutch was second and last of Artemis&Orion and our last clutch of this species... up unitl hour ago ;)

This little partially striped beauty popped out of nowhere and gave me a new project and dream about creating a fully striped schrenckii. 6 eggs are still hatching, the other 3 hatched babies are perfectly normal, healthy ones. Of course I will post a nice picutres after their first shed but here are 3 quick ones of our New Hope:

Awesome, you should name the wee striped one New Hope.

I know, right? :D I'm so happy with this striped little thing, it gave me a new incentive in the hobby. And all of them are het. melanistic so I will leave a pair and will be able to have new melanistic in the next 3-4 years. Long wait but worth it.

I talked with the breeder who now has my black Orion and they have eggs too, maybe we will trade babies to add some new blood, father will be the same, but moms are from totally different lines. We'll see, I'm just really glad little New Hope hatched and gave me new dreams regarding reptiles.

Oh and two other siblings have little striped parts on their necks too, I'm curious how that came out. Maybe it has something to do with incubation time, as this clutch hatched after only 42 days, incubated at room temperature so not very high.

Nice! The back pattern resembles an Angolan python or really dark JCP at first glance. :O If it's genetic, striped Russians would be cool little snakes.

From what I know it can be line-breed, there is not many people working with stirped russians (personally I only know about one guy in Asia), so we'll see how it will turn out :D
