View Full Version : What makes them a Jungle Boa.

I've seen lots of different boas that are called Jungles but I'm not sure how to tell really. Always thought it was because the saddles were all messed up looking which doesn't hurt my feelings anyway. Thanks.

Jungle is an inhertible mutation. It is is actually more of a colour mutation than it is a pattern mutation. Although many jungles tend to be abberant, some have a very normal and symmetrical patterning, and those ones would be termed "low expression" jungles. Jungles tend to be very high contrast and their colours pop more than their normal counterparts. There are other distinguishing features that you can classify them with, such as a broken head spear, but in the end it really comes down to a well practiced eye, and even then there are animals that are sold as possible jungle because the colour in the lineage is so nice to begin with that it is hard for the breeder to distinguish jungle from non jungle.

Yeah honestly you get better at telling them apart the more you see them.

This is my most obvious Jungle. He has pretty much all the markers plus those eyes scream Jungle. The super jungles have what I call Demon/devil eyes and some of the jungles have hints of them too like this guy.

I find the jungle motley’s pretty hard to spot sometimes. This is one but her buckskin coloration is getting pretty obvious these days.
