Hi guys,
I witnessed my 2 Boas mating a few weeks ago and she has been getting larger since then. She’s still eating like a pig and last shed on 20th March which I presumed was her POS. She is now shedding again as I type this?! I’m a total beginner but even I know this is odd!
Do you guys think she is gravid? Any help or advice would be great.
Many thanks,
Jonno
A few points to consider or ask yourself;
- Has the male lost all interest?
- Did you witness an ovulation?
- After a POS the female will be noticeably darker, is she?
- A gravid boa will hug heat and will feed with less gusto, is she?
That's as far as we can reasonably go without knowing much more, but the above would be signs that she has ovulated and is in fact gravid.

The pair were separated on 30th March and have not been together since.
I didn’t witness an ovulation.
She looked the same after her shed on 20th March.
She is always on her hot side of her vivarium and is a crazy eater!
For what reason did you separate? When breeding boas, you should wait until you've witnessed a definite ovulation or the male loses interest. Removing the male early could lead to an unfavourable result with the breeding.
Doesn't sound like any post ovulation shed has happened yet, but perhaps the one she is entering is it. Once you know if she is gravid, cut down on the feeding.

I separated due to him losing interest really and because I thought she had just had her POS 10 days prior.
Loss of interest is usually a good sign. Keep an eye out for the signs that I mentioned, and I will cross my fingers for you.
