I have a small rescue operation and just got a Red Tail Boa. My vet says not to house it in the same room with the pythons due to mysterious virus that kills pythons carried by boas. Has anyone ever heard or experienced problems with them being in same room after quarantine period of course.

Quarantine period should be at least one full month for any new snake. I recommend at least 2 months though, maybe even longer. After this period of time there should not be any infectious disease spreading. Quarantine should take place in opposite areas from your reptile room, should be as far away as possible to prevent the spread of potential infection. Snake mites are one of the worst things to deal with so make sure to inspect carefully, it would be a shame to lose a collection to a disease such as IBD. Please be aware of this. After the quarantine period is over there should not be a chance of spreadable infection, but the longer you quarantine the better your chances.
Hope this helps!

I thought the quarantine period was 6 months.

Thanks Boa has been with us for 3 months in separate room. Should have mentioned that. Vet said never put in same room as Pythons
If putting quarantine due to IBD, then need 6-9 months and make sure you wash hands with disinfectant, don't share tools, clothes, etc between snakes. Can still house them properly during this time tough since 1-2 months is usually enough to determine parasites. IBD is a whole different thing.

Especially for a rescue boa, make sure you monitor the boa for any problems at all. It can also be a good idea to ask a vet, before putting it into your reptile/snake room.

Ok, I am sure your snakes are fine.
If nothing else, pythons are like a "canary" for IBD in that they perish very quickly once it's contracted. However cruel this may sound, some people quarantine boas in close presence of a python or two already in quarantine just for this reason. Once the quarantine period is over you can keep them in the same room.
