View Full Version : Funniest snake?
What species or individual snake, in your opinion, is the funniest, whether due to looks or behavior?
To me it has to be Arabian sand boas. You can't not love that face.
Let's see if this link works for everyone.

Russian rat snakes. They are the friendliest snakes ever. Most snakes tolerate handling but they'd rather you left them alone. Not these guys. They actually approach me when I put my hands in the enclosure and climb on of their own volition. If I don't show any signs of picking them up (i.e., just trying to do a water change) they will shoot up my shirt sleeves or just hop onto my wrist and wrap. Once I give up and take them out for some play time they are everywhere exploring my hair, clothes, etc. Eventually they settle down and just chill. When it's time to go back in they resist, usually by wrapping as tightly around my wrist as they can manage. They are huge people-watchers and love to see what you're up to.
I have never seen this behavior from any other species of snake. It seems to be unique to Russian rats.

While we are not allowed to keep garter snakes in the state I live in because they are indigenous here, I find that they have loads of character and I love the way that they will periscope up to look at what's going on around them.

I'd say either garter snakes or reticulated pythons. Both are highly interactive, hyper species. They will follow you around and greet you if you walk in, hoping for food, and they're pretty much always on the move. Which means shenanigans are always happening. lol

I haven't handled a lot of snakes, but my favorite snake that i've handled has to be a dwarf retic I held at an expo. It was such an inquisitive creature, trying to stuff its big head into my tiny pockets and stretching up to investigate my face. A super dwarf retic is definitely up on the "I need to get one of these" list now.
