View Full Version : Hognose ate paper bedding
While eating a piece of tilapia, my 11 year old male western hognose accidnetally ate a piece of paper bedding about half the size of his head. Will he be fine?

If his temps are dialed in and he has fresh water he should be fine. I've never had any issues with a little bit of ingested substrate.

Ya but if you're worried feed it on a plate or plastic piece and use shorter pieces so it wont drag them around as much before swallowing

They eat little bits of dirt, leaf litter, small twigs, etc. in the wild along with their prey so I wouldn't be too concerned unless it was very large. Paper bedding will probably be digested along with the fish or passed when he poops. My crew sometimes get a little piece of aspen bedding along with a rodent. If it's sticking out of their mouths I'll try to pluck it out with the feeding tongs but even when I can't they've been none the worse for wear.

99.99% chance its fine unless it was like plastic like paper. But most people use paper towels or newspaper.
Guessing this was carefresh. Will be fine!
