I was online searching for an answer when I discoverer this forum. Someone has already asked my question but I'm hoping to get a real answer.
I live in a rural area and pack rats have cost me thousands of dollars in car repair. I put d-con in my outside storage to kill the rats, which it does a good job. I'm concerned about the snakes in my yard. I know some animals won't eat a dead animal if it's sick or poisoned. I don't want to kill the snakes but the rats have to go. They are destroying my car. Does anyone know if d-con will kill snakes?

Yes, it will if the snake ingests a poisoned rodent. So will birds if prey, cats, and other animals that prey in small mammals or carion.

Yes, there could potentially be some snake fatalities.
However, d-con tends to kill pretty quickly. If you are using it inside of a building, my guess is that most of the rodents that consume it will die inside the building. Also, wild snakes "usually" don't eat dead cold prey that they have found.
I say, use the dcon. As the rodent population in the immediate area dwindles, so will the danger to the snakes.

There are also other ways to kill off mice/rats, though they are very cruel (not that poisoning is nice).
Google for "Rolling log mouse trap" or "Bucket mouse trap". Would do the same for rats I assume, just you have to clean up the bodies.
