As many of you know I upgraded my Baird's Rat Lucy to a large bioactive enclosure.

Some thoughts, I can't say how happy I am with the Biodude's bioactive soil mix. http://i.refs.cc/UM5lv1Re

There is my referral link and I hope others will check him out. The soil holds burrows perfectly and the springtails seem to like it as well. Not sure about the isopods as I haven't seen any yet but I'm sure they are in there somewhere.

One of the bulbs in the hood is a 10.0 bulb I think which I used cause it was laying around. I'm gonna order a 5.0 bulb on payday because quite frankly the color of the light doesn't really highlight her amazing steel/blue hues that she has.

Nice enclosure - top work. I'd stick with the 10% bulb and supplement with a 6500i daylight led. Think that would really bring the colours out.

My male is under two 5.0 bulbs and has actually been out more than her and she was always the more bold of the pair when they were in equal cages. (both also 5.0 bulbs) so I'm going to lower the intensity. It's a win win for both being able to see her more and it makes her look better. I think that potentially that the 5.0 imitates the color of spring/early summer light and the 10.0 tells her to go hide because it looks more like summer. Texas snakes will become nocturnal as the temp rises so maybe their activity is tied equally to both temp and light temperature.
