I love the all black ones. Is that a locality or subspecies thing or are they just random in the wild?

There is a subspecies of house snake, boaedon olivaceus identified by bright orange/red eyes and undivided subcaudual scales that is frequently quite dark. There is also a black color phase of boaedon fuliginosus which is what you most commonly find in captivity. You can also find mixes of the two commonly known as hobby olives :)

Yes I'm a fan of Thor! Such a cutie. He's got good a speckled contrast pattern I like.

I though that different species of house snakes couldn't interbreed? Never kept any myself, read that somewhere along the line.
Nice collection you have. I haven't run across any at the reptile shows, or I'd likely have at least one too.

Yep - true B olivaceous are very difficult to find because of the crossing producing the 'hobby' ones. I'd love a true olivaceous and am holding out should I ever come across one.

I've seen instances of success as well as seen reports of people having issues. Laeticia Bx this year had a clutch of boaedon fuliginosus and boaedon lineatus hybrids. You can look on A C Snakes website and read their accounts of a boaedon capensis x boaedon lineatus breeding (unfortunately with photobucket tanking the pictures are no longer up). I know of successful capensis and fuliginosus pairings. Hobby olives by all reports are boaedon olivaceus x boaedon fuliginosus.

I honestly don't know which subspecies are unable to interbreed with which other subspecies. If I was a gambling woman looking at this old thread here (http://www.reptilescanada.com/showthread.php/9166-My-Nemesis) it looks like the little tan male is boaedon mentalis being paired up with a fuliginosus so from his reports I'd say at least mentalis is a no go with capensis or fuliginosus but really this is just me making a guess.

Thank you :D he's a doll and people keep saying they like his pattern. I love Orange's color. I love those vivid oranges. Someone shared a photo of their blue eye Lucy cape house snake on a FB group that I found just lovely even tho it's not so vivid like I usually like.

They're all awesome but I like the look of the cape house snakes in particular, that's another possible first snake for me.

Lol, the name Kobe I just imagine him grabbing a mouse and chucking it into his water bowl from across the cage.
