So I finally have everything in to commence my new viv builds. 3 pvc vivs (flat packed so need constructing), hydro balls, drainage membrane, various substrates for mixing, UV bulbs, stats, light fittings, plants etc.

Once these are built then it's time to move some animals around and then redo all the remaining vivs. I think only the olives, atb and obsoletus will stay unchanged for now - everyone else is for a full makeover.

Will post progression pictures as I go along and hopefully they'll turn out how I'm hoping.

And if they don't? :D

I follow a very scientific method when putting my vivs together so I'm sure they will. I just chuck everything in and hope for the best! :D.

That said I have some idea of the look I'm going for in each one so we'll see.

What kind of pvc vivs are you using to allow for such a deep substrate? Custom?Just curious because all of mine would only allow for maybe 2-3" of substrate before surpassing the doors.

I simply slope the substrate up toward the back - that's where the larger plants go anyway. The alterative is to simply silicone a strip of plastic to the inside of the lip to make it higher.

I've bought some Viv Tek ones - only available in the UK currently but by a country mile the best vivs I've ever seen.

So viv 1 is complete. Thought I'd start easy and redo my old T lepidus viv for my Python regius as all the electrics etc are already in and it's cleared a space in the reptile room for the new ones to go.

I'm no viv artist - as I said above this is all chuck it in and see what happens. Pretty pleased with it though and it means Finley now officially has his second snake as I've given her to him.

Dang Danny, that's a sexy enclosure. You Europeans sure have access to some awesome wooden enclosures compared to us Americans.

Thank you. I always forget you find it difficult to source wooden vivs. Over here people can barely give them away when they are done with them. I think this one cost me $25-30 - even new they're not extortionate.

Every reptile store in the country has at least a few in.

Looks great, is it full bioactive? I'm wanting to set up a small glass tank that way for my incoming infernalis. Had some springtails living in the cypress mulch in some of my shoebox tubs with the baby Dominicans, but since I replaced all their mulch and consolidated them into a single rack I'll have to find fresh stock. The roly polys are easy enough to find.
