I'm just looking to buy a male ij neo. I live in Southern Ontario. I really don't want to resort to going to The Reptile Store in Hamilton (though he has nice animals) to buy...he's just too expensive for me. I think he wants $350 or $375 if i'm not mistaken. Not that that's not the market price, it's just that I'm a first year grade 3 teacher and really haven't the cash to spend almost $400. What price is unreasonable to expect? I know $150 isn't gonna happen, but what about $200 or #225? Thanks all...much appreciated.

By the way... that ij at the Reptile Store in Hamilton is $350 and it's a juvenille... about 6 months. He said he will probe upon request. That's definetely more pricey then a breeder right? Thanks...
cheers,
MIKE
a neo should cost around $250. anybody who sells them for less is desperate to get rid of stock because they arent confident in the demand for thier animals (hint: they dont think thier animals are nice enough)... OR at a special event like the PCPC expo. OR if you buy in bulk. I hope people dont lower the prices of IJ's. I dont want them to be cornsnakes of the future. *cringes*
$350's not TOO bad for a juvie sexed IJ from a store. breeders are cheaper than stores of course because the stores have to make some money off what they pay the breeders.

If they continue to bring wild caught crap into the country, then the price certainly isn't going to stay very high.
As for a "reasonable" price, well who knows? The general consensus is that IJ babies are $225-$300. But pay whatever you think its worth. I'd pay $1,000 for some Irian Jayas that I've seen/come across. But there's some that I wouldn't even let take up space in my collection if it was GIVEN to me. Its all about what its worth to you, not us.
As JIMI said, breeders shouldn't be selling babies for les than $250.
