Has anyone ever purchased a set of tongs from snaketongz?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has ever purchased from Snaketongz? I have been wanting a good set of tongs and am always getting mixed reviews about different brands. My buddie just got a set of these https://snaketongz.com/products/standard-snake-tongs?variant=44844929286 and he swears by them. I know they are a new company so I wanted to get a few more opinions!

First question is what will you be handling? If it's non venomous species then tongs are entirely unnecessary. Indeed used incorrectly can cause injuries.

Huh...I was thinking for feeders. Not actually handling the snake. I have a few non-venomous thag could a good loooong pair of feeding tongs lol.

As Danny mentioned the photo shows tongs that would be used for handling a snake rather than feeding a snake. If you do want tongs for handling a snake, there are a lot of cheap knock-offs available for lower prices. That said, I have learned to never trust cheap tools as they have a habit of failing when I need them the most, sometimes ending with injuries. I found that the site Hayneedle seems to have pretty good prices for some name brand snake tongs if that's what you want to buy. https://search.hayneedle.com/search/index.cfm?Ntt=snake%20tongs If on the otherhand, you want to buy something for offering prey items to your snakes, then you might want to check out ebay for something like this. What do large feeding tongs look like Then? Just curious. I still use some oversize tweezer things to feed lol.

I use hemostats. You can pick them up at hardware stores. Or you can buy them off of the Reptile Basics website. That website sells them up to 24 inches long.

I actually used a very similar product that the OP has posted in a link to offer food to anything over 8'. Worked very well and I kept a very comfortable distance during feedings because of it. It is however not advisable to use to handle any species without proper education. A snake hook will probably be a better choice.

I would be using it to relocate rattle snakes from my yard. I live out in Jamul Ca and see a few a week during summer. I pick them up gently and put them in a sack and drive to a empty field about a mile away. I had a set but they broke on me already so wanted to give these guys a try

Boaboa1, Might I suggest that you consider switching from a sack to a 5 gallon plastic bucket? There have been too many instances where people receive bites through a sack. I also use snake tongs for relocating Copperheads that I find from time-to-time in my back yard. I have the tongs by the back door and a 5 gallon bucket with a lid standing by at all times. I gently pick up the snake(s), place them in the bucket, secure the lid and put the bucket in the back of my truck to relocate them to a safe area where there is no traffic, livestock or the likelihood of running into people. Just a thought...

Like Mink I was actually looking at the tongs the OP posted for feeding my larger snakes. My bull snake is close to 8ft and the 24" feeding tongs just don't cut it anymore. I can barely hold a large rat with those things. My carpets and Olive python will require longer feeding tongs soon as well. Can these be used effectively for feeding larger snakes?

Interesting...I only use the 10" ZooMed "feeding tweezers" and I still feel safe using those. You must have some really aggressive snakes.

I just won't put my fingers in front of my 6ft Boa when it's in its hide the next time I mess with the substrate...at least not w/o a snake hook in my other hand!

I use my handling tong to feed my Burms and Retics. They hold on to rabbits with no problems. I use large forceps for feeding smaller prey items.
