which one grow bigger.. Morelia s. cheynei or Morelia s. variegata

Which one of these snakes will be bigger as adults.. Morelia cheynei or Morelia variegata? And i have an enclosure that is in inch: 30 long, 20 deep, 40 high. Would it be enough for an adult snake of either one of those?

Both of those Morelia ssp average about 5-7 ft. and females can even be a little larger than that. I think the enclosure you're proposing would be too small for either of those ssp as adults. The height is great but they'll also need more floor space imo. I'd recommend an enclosure with 48x24 inches of floor space and at least 15 inches of height.

Given the arboreal tendencies of carpets I'd not go lower than 24" for an adult. If the snake were to get toward the 7' mark I'd also be looking at a wide viv - 5 or 6' x 2' deep.

But regardless yes the viv you have is too small for an adult but would house such a snake until it is 3 or so years old...

@ Danny- While I agree that a minimum 24" of height would be ideal, I know many breeders and keepers that successfully keep their carpets in shorter enclosures. As long as they have a shelf or perch I don't think it matters to them how high they are off the ground. Carpets are semi-arboreal but I'd say 3 out of my 5 carpets still spend a fair amount of time on the ground. I'm all for giving an animal plenty of room but my carpets don't take up much cage space at all. They're usually coiled up on a shelf or perch basking or waiting for food. My Coastal is the only one that actively roams his enclosure and that's mostly when he's hungry. In terms of floor space I kinda follow the LxW formula so I can keep up to an 8ft carpet in a 4x2 comfortably. My Coastal and Bredli will most likely end up in 6ft enclosures if they grow to over 8ft. The jungles and the albino will all be in 4x2s as adults.

As you know zig I prefer larger vivs. Somewhat a personal preference - I just like to provide plenty of room. I wouldn't keep a snake longer than 5', possibly 6' for a true arboreal species in a 4' wide viv.

The harrisoni is going in a 4x2x2, the B imperator and C angulifer in 6x2x2's and I'd prefer a 3' high for both the harrisoni and angulifer.

Of course there is an element of subjectivity here - yes there's an absolute minimum size that should be provided and anything over that is a matter of preference.
