Is lambert canadian peat/sphagnum moss safe for reptiles and amphibians. Like snakes an frogs.

Check the label to see if there are any additives or fertilizers added. If not, it's safe, but keep in mind that the collection of peat is extremely hard on the environment and many people refuse to use it because of that.

Ingredients say just canadian peat moss. Nothing else. Would that mean it's safe.

I have another question about it? It looks like Eco earth and not like moss. Could I use it as a substrate. Btw I haven't used the same bag yet. Lol just haven't gotten to use it yet.

I actually wouldn't. I'm no authority, but the stuff gets really dusty when it gets dry, it's hard to rehydrate, sticky when wet.... Ummmm.. .what's wrong with Aspen?

It'd work well mixed with something else. I wouldn't use it by itself for the reasons Doug mentioned.

Aspn is not good at holding humidity and tends to rot when wet. Not ideal for a species like reticulatus who like the humidity higher.

For my Madu retic he's on a sand topsoil mix - predominantly topsoil but with a bit of sand. When I redo his viv I'll mix some ecoearth in as well and a good chunk of leaf litter maybe some orchid bark for texture and airation.

I actually don't mind ecoearth on its own but it's not so good with live plants just as it is.
