humid hide?

so the other day my BP shed for the 2nd time. the first shed wasn't that good so i added some moss bowls and this shed was a little better. but i had to help her get a little bit off. still she got most of it herself but a few pieces. my next option is also having a humid hide. should i make it on her hot or cold side? or both sides? she has 3 hides but one is a log so that can't be used. the top is covered with plexiglass but still can't achieve it. how should i go about a humid hide? thanks guys!

I've usually had my humid hides on the cool side of the enclosure but you can put it anywhere in the viv.

None of my vivs have humid hides and I have never had anything other than perfect sheds from my snakes.

Get the substrate right for the species and damp down accordingly and the rest follows.

We get horribly dry here so I use cool side humid hides sometimes. When I get the tanks bioactive or close to it they have varying soil moisture options and natural rock or wood stack hides already so it's not an issue for those tanks. I am still going to include one for my sumatran python instead of a water bin because it's hard to do actual water for soaking when they are tracking soil in and out so most said they just put in a permanent humid hide regardless of correct humidity and substrate as a substitute.

My juvenile Corn and King were camping out in the sphagnum bowl, located mid-enclosure, a lot at first, but not so much any more. The new Bull I got last week has been in and out of his cold-side sphagnum several times...it keeps pushing out the sphagnum so I need to get him a bigger bowl, not to mention a larger enclosure in the future.

Bulls are excavators. They'll trash a bioactive setup lol You need to be happy with the "natural" look that includes whatever the snake decided to excavate, shove around, knock over, and go spelunking deeper into any rock or wood pile you planned including set aside for the cleanup crew. My texas bull got his cave down into the drainage layer and flooded it so I had to pack it with absorbent substrate which he dug out everywhere to make new tunnels winding through the rocks but bored with that he's been wriggling under the large log disturbing the cuc and smashing the leaf litter.

I use a Tupperware bowl with the sphagnum moss on his warm side, so it's more like a sauna. he hides in there and goes to his cool side when he wants. Since he has been using his hide, he has had excellent sheds.
