I couldn't resist......this little guy needed a new home and I'm a sucker for the 'broken" ones. His previous owner dropped his hide on his back (...he now has some mild neuro issues....) and gave him up  .......so now I have him. My friend suggested the name "Day-o".....there is a reference there :nerd:
He is very sweet and inquisitive. Moves around well and can grip well considering, and he has eaten well which is good.

Poor little guy. I'm glad to see he's in good hands though. What kind of problems does he have?

What kind of problems does he have?
He has a very slight head wobble and will sometimes tip upside down if his head goes "up" far enough if that makes sense? But he can easily right himself and always does and continues on his little adventure. He was cruising around on my bed last night while I was getting everything set up for him. Very curious little guy

Right? XD I thought so too lol

Lol thought to myself how the heck did I do that! , is that tipping from the hide being dropped on him? Sounds like he is doing good otherwise and should be fine. I saw a rough snake today (wild eastern milksnake) it had a rough life but was finding ways to survive. It had missing tail broken ribs all healed from the past. It was pretty feisty snake.

From what I understand, the hide was dropped somewhere further down his body so I imagine the tipping is from the nerves being damaged? As with the head wobble.

Sounds possible that some nerves could have been effected as there are a ton of nerves that run along the spine. If it is nerve damage it does not to be to sever since the snake is crawling around and eating. I think if he continues to eat regularly and can get around good then it shouldn't be much of a problem other then tipping once in awhile. I was just wondering I thought maybe it was dropped on his head and caused something up that way.

Yeah...I'm not exactly sure of the exact location but was told somewhere towards his tail. He was very curious and exploring his viv last night and finally settled into his warm hide which is where I found him this morning :)

Great! He seems happy to me now in your care. They do like to explore new places. It's sometimes hard to tell what exactly happen when you are not there to actually to see it. Not saying the person was dishonest or anything like that. In any case seems happy you got him to feed and he did some exploring all good signs to recovery. :)

Nice rescue there my friend! Sounds like things aren't too bad and everything will work out! :)

Pretty little thing. Re the neuro issues - I'm happy to be corrected by those that know there royals better than I but that looks to have some spider gene in it and that would account for the issues so it may not have been the hide being dropped.
Good job on the rescue though either way.

indeed danny might be right. i have a bumblebee and she has the head wobble and does the flop thing too. from what i've heard and read some do that mainly the spider gene ones which mine is spider x pastel. but she does seem to be a lil off at times and i wonder if it's something else with them.

Nice save of a very nice critter! Best wishes with the new addition.

He is a banana, not sure if the spider gene is in that or not? I'm not up to snuff on ball genetics...sooooooooooooooooooooo many!

He looks like a banana spider. The color says banana, the markings say spider.
FWIW I have a mojave spider that shows no wobble whatsoever. So it could be his injury, could be genetic, could be both.
He sure is a cutie though. :)

So it could be a similar but mild version of stargazing in sunkissed corns?

Similar. Stargazing is completely debilitating though, and the "spider wobble" usually isn't.

Comparing photos to other banana spiders I would tend to agree :) He does have quite a bit of the white on him. I do think some of his issues are from the injury but knowing there's spider in there, the wobble makes sense.

He's gorgeous :D I would definitely say banana-spider, and like you said for spiders the wobble makes sense.

Amazing looking little rodent killer you picked up, congrats. He strikes me more as a bumblebee ball. Coloration and pattern all point to that. The banana gene I think would have him appear more darker. His head stamp seems reduced though. They (bumblebees) all have the spider gene which carries the various degrees of wobble and neurological issues. Bumblebee being the pairing of a spider x pastel.

Albert, don't the bumblebees have very dark patterning? All the ones I've ever seen have had black markings as opposed to the purple-ish ones he has. The lighting in my house is god-awful for getting good photos...when I get back home and have decent weather I'll try to get some outdoor photos of him. Not trying to argue, just genuinely curious :) He's the first color morph ball I've had :)

Thought might been similar to stargazer. Yeah i heard alot of stargazers die prefty early in their life. :(

Most stargazer corns are put down. They don't have good quality of life and it's not a trait breeders want to risk further contaminating the gene pool. They're trying to eliminate it (probably not possible with spider balls but the wobble isn't usually that bad). The parent that passed it on is usually also euthanized. That may sound heartless but if the snake is adopted out they no longer have control over whether it gets bred. Even if the adopter promises not to breed it there's no way to ensure that, especially if it changes hands. If the breeder keeps it, what if something happens to him / her or if the snake somehow escapes?
More info. Though the description is for Honey corns, they are derived from Sunkissed and Don includes a lot of info about stargazers in the description: https://cornsnake.net/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=1473&virtuemart_category_id=290&Itemid=250&lang=en

yes you have a banana spider. no where near a bumblebee the head wobble more than likely due to the spider gene unless we're talking about a big ceramic hide.

Yes, I see what you are referring to. The lightened crossbars and coloration of them do point to the banana spider. I stand corrected. Thanks.
