View Full Version : Strange activity?

I noticed my honduran doing this a couple nights in a row. He is like resting with his mouth at the very top of the tub to the extent that his tongue comes out of the little crack when he flicks his tongue. He isn't moving back and fourth around the top, he is just sitting there in this exact position and not moving. The picture I took doesn't really reflect how the tip of his mouth is literally on the crack of the rack and tub.

I don't really think this is a "bad" activity, but I don't know what it would mean he is doing? Just sitting there? Trying to escape? Looking for food?

Not concerned as much as I am curious. Just seemed like an interesting thing for him to do.

Have you all ever seen this? Any guesses as to why he is doing it?

Temps:
Hot side=89F
Cool side=78F

Could be just interested in a scent. Your temps are about 6 degrees too warm on both ends for a honduran milk snake so if the air outside of the tub is cooler it may have something to do with him trying to cool down.

Yea when I took the temps just before posting this, I noticed it seemed a little warm. I will be lowering the temps when I get home. Thanks!

My male Honduran does that quite a bit. He is ALWAYS on the hunt for a way to get out and "explore". Not in the least bit shy or aggressive, just inquisitive and quite active, especially if he sees me outside of his enclosure.

Yea this guy just recently started doing it. I am thinking he is looking for food because I noticed he does it towards the end off the week, which is when I feed. My honduran isn't shy at all either. He has a pretty cool personality
