The newest resident to the Zoo, a Phidippus audax, a local jumping spider. Used to keep these as a kid and while I'm pretty arachnophobic, I've always liked these little guys.

Found this one while doing yard work today and decided to keep it. And, of course, it had to be named Murasaki in one of the naming themes we've got going on!

What's the feeding regimen? I'm really curious as to your answer!

That's one cute little jumper :). The only ones I've ever seen here are zebra jumpers, we have them every year in are back garden. I could sit and watch these little guy's for hours

Cute little critter, they really are fascinating. What are you keeping it in?

They can eat all kinds of things, moths, small grasshoppers, etc from the yard or bought crickets or roaches. Since it's still quite cold here, I imagine I will be buying it some food for awhile, until I can catch enough for her. I'm assuming it's female but don't know for sure.

Murasaki is in a small Kritter Keeper, the last two pictures were actually through the plastic side.
