Hey everyone,

New to the forum. I have a question about a snake I saw yesterday in North Texas. I believed it to be a water moccasin, but I'll let you be the judge of that (sorry the pic quality isn't very good—I took it with my phone).

It is a Plainbelly Water Snake (Nerodia erythrogaster), harmless. These feed primarily on fish and amphibians. Nice find, thanks for sharing.

Just so you know for future reference, water moccasins have facial pits and slit pupils. I think that is the snake described above.
