Hi guys,

I'm new to this site and was hoping to get some advice.

I have an 8 year old female Mexican Black Kingsnake. I've never had any issues what so ever with her up until the last 8 weeks, roughly.

She's just refusing to eat, 99% of the time. She's ate 2 chicks in this 8 week period.

Absolutely nothing has changed in terms of tank set up/lighting/temperatures etc. She's still shedding perfectly and I've seen her drinking on several occasions.

I use a long tongs for feeding, usually chicks, but I change it up with mice too. Usually she'd strike at it within seconds of picking up on the scent, but she's showing little to no interest now.

The strangest part to me is, even though she's refusing to eat, it looks like she's moving around looking for food a lot, being very active in her tank.

Any advice would be appreciated, I hope I've given the right information.

Thanks,

Elaine.

If your temps are dialed in I wouldn't worry unless she starts losing significant weight. Keep offering food every 10-14 days and she'll eat eventually.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just worrying probably more than I should because she's been so consistent with feeding for the last 8 years!

Breeding season can do that with both sexes. It is that time of year.

Thanks for that :) It hadn't even crossed my mind as it never seemed to be an issue in previous years! Another attempt at feeding tomorrow, hopefully it'll go well!
