View Full Version : George's new cage...
Will... the last three days have been tough on this old man... 3 days ago I ordered George's new cage... The guy says he will have it done in 24 hours... So Sunday I gut my snake room and haul my guys tanks and all to the living room/dining room... Here I might remind you I live in a 750 ft apartment... So it's pretty tight... I take some measurements and realize it won't make the corner in the hall... So I measure the window and that's the only way in... He calls me with a family emergency and can't make it until the following night... My guys had to spend the night in the living room... The next night he shows and it goes pretty smooth... He has to take off the wheels to get it through the window....
I'm trying not to be disappointed in the cage... It's true what they say, you get what you pay for... It's pretty crude but functional... Kind of... The plexiglass doors don't come out so that sucks... The finish is awful but the construction is sound so eventually I can fix it all... I guess people just don't take pride in their work anymore...
FYI... I order Reptile Basics 120 Watt Radiant Heat Panel;
Vivarium Electronics VE-100;
2-42" LED Cage Light with the LED Power Supply
I wanted the 160 watt but they stopped making it...
Sorry! I know a lot of you guys wanted me to go with Bob at pro products but he was a little outside my budget... Anyway here's a few videos!

Looks ok, I'd complain about the knob though. It's brand new so shouldn't need repairs already.

He did all the hard work now I think I can trick it out... I'll put some better knobs on it and I got some cool vents for it coming... I bought four of these 4" Stainless steel butterfly vent... Two for each end...

That is a very slick vent, not sure 4 vents plus the regular ones though sounds like maintaining humidity would be a real pain unless you live in a high humidity area. I'm usually struggling and misting a lot to keep humidity up.

Thanks Ziggy!

I figured I'd put two high upon the right side and two down low on the left side... As hot air rises up and out the left side it will pull cold air in on the left... at least that's the theory... It should work... I did a similar thing in the army on a bigger scale... I was in the top floor all the way to the end of my barracks... I noticed right away I could control the temp in my cubicle with the window... I could suck all the cold air from down stairs just by opening my window... :eek:

How long is the new enclosure for George?

8ft. I would like to have given him more room but this will have to do for now... You can't tell in the video but there is a 6"X 8' shelve a foot off the floor all the way along the back for him to perch on...
