what f/t to get

i plan on purchasing some f/t feeders from perfect prey since my ball python has started accepting f/t. my question is what sizes should i get/ get rats as well since shipping is expensive. i was thinking 10 adult mice 18-32Gs than 25 rat pups at 20-29gs or weaned at 30-50gs. i was thinking after 10 feeds from the mice that i can try rat weaned. when i got her she was 170gs i haven't got a scale yet but had her for almost a month. i think she'd be able to handle that or should i get jumbo rats until she's bigger for rats? thanks for any input.

Frank, That is always a bit of a crap shoot when you have young snakes that you know will grow quickly. If you find that you ordered too many of the smaller prey items, you can always feed two at a feeding to use them up. Typically, I buy enough to warrant the $29 shipping charges, otherwise there is very little savings for buying online. With your small order, your best bet is to wait for a local Repticon or other show and buy at the show to avoid the shipping charges. Just a thought...

update she's 215grams what do you guys think? and thanks jim for the advice that's why i was gonna order some larger ones too for her to eat months down the road. with what i listed the total is only about 60$ when in a pet store by me 4 adult mice are 13$ so i am saving money online even if i throw away half. money's not a concern my snake is lol.

so at 215grams should i buy some adult mice than some weaned rats or small rats?

If you only have the one BP. I'd go with a (10) pack of adult mice, a (20) pack of weaned rats and a (15) pack of small rats. That will last you a solid 9-12 months. That's (45) feeders for about $90 with shipping included from Perfect Prey. At $13 for (4) feeders you'd only get (28) feeders from the pet store.
