Kinda makes me wonder why people want to own a snake that large with a reputation of being aggressive. More power to you, but just not my cup of tea. Great video though.

I can appreciate the majesty and power of such a large and powerful animal but I wouldn't dream of keeping one. :)

It's kind of like the rattlesnake thing with me... Everybody thinks i'm crazy... but I'd really love to own Albino Western Diamondback Rattlesnake... Something about it's rattling when you approach the cage that gets your adrenalin going... I'm 66 now and I don't do roller coasters so living on the edge a little is what gets me up in the morning... Were all going to die someday so a little excitement while your alive is a good thing... :freakedout:

The novelty very quickly wears off and the noise just becomes annoying, you'll find yourself telling the snake to shut up already. lol.

That's a pretty cool video, always interesting to observe a natural act of predation.

Ya you might be right... I'm constantly tell my Chihuahua to shut up or I'll trade him for a snake... But just a little rattle might be nice! :yes:

Reason they are banned here. I'm not really interested in anything quite that big so I don't mind the amount of banned species in the city. Although that boa constrictor ban seems kind of stupid. I can't say knowledgeably handling any animal in the right captive conditions with the right tools would give me any adrenaline rush. It's not worth the amount of pain and long term damage which I already have experience spending years recovering from silly physical challenges or wounds I blew off then. A big, bluffing bull snake pretending to be a rattlesnake is simply amusing and the brown water snakes for similar reasons. They get mistaken for poisonous species that share their habitat so often. I also love hunting these kinds of animals down in the wild to see them so the wild colors and behaviors are appealing. Even if I find the cb versions to be quite different from times I've had to move the wild versions. I still dislike letting the bigger snakes point at my face with any body slack and reroute them so only my limbs are really in danger despite them not threatening me.

Bear in mind afrocks are generally smaller than Retics and lighter built than anacondas so the same comments about keeping them could apply to those snakes as well.

A wild retic will be every bit as unpredictable, a captive anaconda possibly even more dangerous.

Yes captive afrocks can be moody sods but it terms of danger to keeper then I'd put them pretty much level with a retic. Can't let your guard down with either.

Even my incoming amethystina needs to be treated and approached with the utmost care and respect.
