I will say, "Beautiful Snake!". I should say, "I'm Jealous!"; however, I'll stick with the petite sized snakes and just say, "Better You Than Me!".

Question is, with all the big breeds that y'all have...what is your food bill like each month for these behemoths? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Another beauty!

@Scubadiver59.
Thats all up to price and availability of large food items. If an adult reticulated pythons eats +/- 1 rabbit a month. It costs me 7,50€ each which isn't all that much. If I can't get rabbits they get chickens at around the same price. Luckily I have a reasonably stable resource now, but in the past I've had to resort to feeding multiple XXL rats at 5,50 each, quickly stacking up to a big amount.. The real expensive part is growing up. They eat a lot more often, a small rabbit every 2 weeks for example at 6,50 each is 13- a month per animal. 4 XXL rats at 5,- each is 20,- a month. So with several growing retics, adult retics, a growing Burmese (+all my boas) my food bill isn't mild... also.. All grown up, the food bill might go down, the heating bills skyrockets though! :)

The heating bill or the electricity bill? It's the same all year round--you keep them warm during the winter and you keep them warm during the summer (combat the effects of the A/C).

I keep my house 75F all year round so the only time I really catch a break is during the spring and fall when I don't need my gas furnaces (I have two zones) and my A/Cs. I've been thinking of sleeping in the snake room since it's so toasty, but my German (Shedder) Shepherd and Labrador-mix would probably be a bit too warm, but on the other hand my Doberman would probably welcome the warmth.

When they grow up the food bill goes down, but their enclosures get big enough that the heating bills skyrockets. With retics 75F is alright as a night temperature, but they need quite a bit more during the day. And a small heating source isn't going to cut it.

imo, its cheaper to feed 1 big snake than to feed 3 super small snakes.
