Here is Kable, my banana morph Cali king. The last photo is him taken with flash, it makes him so much more yellow than in real life due to his high white contrast reflecting the flash's light.

Wow! I love his coloring. We just got a California king a few weeks ago :)

Thanks! This guy was my first snake. Got him as a baby, as you can tell. What kind of Cali King (like morph/coloration?). He's gone through 2 sheds with me. When I first got him:

Our first as well. And we've already added to the family with a Mexican black last week, haha! Here is the Cali...I don't know a lot about genetics/morphs, etc. I'd guess he's pretty much your "regular" Cali?

And both of our snakes are appx. 6-8 months old according to the shop we got them at. The Cali's eyes turned blue a few days ago so I am preparing for our first shed...no action so far as I can tell though!

That appears to be a black and white banded Cali King but could be normal as well, but my experience in normals look like this one:

Interesting...it's hard to tell since I am new to this. He's a little more chocolate/yellow than my picture shows in real life, though not quite as much as the picture you posted. Ah well, I'm happy with him either way! I'm still loving yours though, is a banana morph considered rare?

Um, I'm not sure to be honest. The LPS I got him from, I had mentioned wanting one and his supplier had it on his list, but I don't see a ton where I am, so I requested the banana from my LPS. If he's more chocolatey than it is very likely he is regular Cali king. Still gorgeous though!

Thanks! And I guess we'll learn as we go :) Can I ask you - I know it probably varies between individual snakes - but how long did your first two sheds take once you noticed the blue eyes? I handled our dude last night and didn't see any signs of shedding skin, and I also checked the enclosure for remnants, but nothing yet.

Um, the first time I am not sure as I kinda just caught his eyes but wasn't positive. So I fed him and then he pooped and shed and ate all in the same time. The second time, I saw the blue eyes, he stopped eating for two weeks and then shed. He just refused his first meal, but I haven't seen blue eyes yet.

first off- what handsome snakes! not sure if it's "in style" right now, but i think banana kings were one of the very firsts morphs (after the wild morphs) to hit the pet trade. i read a very interesting article about the history of king snake morphs the other day- i'll click around and post a link if i find it!

Selective bred morphs - Southern California Kingsnakes (http://southerncaliforniakingsnakes.weebly.com/selective-bred-morphs.html)

found it! it's a good resource, very picture heavy and he goes into the genetics a little.

This is going to take awhile to read through, but right off the bat I can say I had no idea there were so many variations! Really cool, thanks for the link. And in looking at this, I feel like mine is probably a desert phase.

Very cool little king snake. If I ever do get a second snake (which people on here tell me is inevitable) it will be a king snake.

I've personally never seen a coloration quite like him, very cool guy. love the contrast.

Thanks! Me too. He looks a lot like the photo of Davis Vickers banana in the website Grizla posted.

Kable went through a shed the other day (Thursday I believe) so here is his skin all shed:

And his shiny new coat:

He got quite a bit longer too. He's my little baby snek, and my first one I ever purchased.
