My bull didn't get that much bigger over winter but his Jan and March pictures are quite different.

If I'm not getting any rodents I'm going back in my cave

Nice looking Pit. I like the naturalistic look of your tank too. Does he go off feed on his own during winter or do you brumate him? My male will skip a few meals during the winter but he usually eats all year. My female never refuses a meal.

He didn't brumate and he won't even go off feed when blue. You just have to leave it outside his cave to taste for a minute and down it goes. He wasn't looking for food until Feb but would eat something small weekly and then suddenly he was out begging constantly and taking bigger meals. Last week he was striking at me through the screen top he was so riled up and ate 2 juvenile gerbils about equal to med adult mice in mass/weight. I made him wait 2 extra days past when he was out cruising for food last weekend. It was amusing because I went to pick up geckos and got home late with an adult gerbil left to thaw and remembered it when I finally laid down in bed. So I told my totally not snake knowledgeable or confident husband to just crack the lid and drop it somewhere near the rocks without hitting the water dish. It was gone minutes later. He's seriously a garbage disposal. He doesn't care what the rodent is, how fresh/frozen/sat in someone else's cage a couple hours it is, or how you present it. Provided it can fit it's gone. I try not to power feed him even if they do put it all into growth pretty efficiently but if he's out looking and someone else is letting it go to waste it's hard to not throw an extra mouse or hopper gerbil to him.
