It's not a respiratory infection. She's not hissing at me. When she's done investigating a new place, she turns around and emits a soft, "Pssswheeeeewwwwww" sound.
Do your snakes make little noises?

Mine does that sometimes when I touch him inside the enclosure. He is also not hissing, he just whistles a little. But I have no idea what it is. None of my other snakes ever did that. Hope someone here can tell you what it means :)

I don't know about colubrids much. One of my retics has a whistling nose though. I talked to a couple of retic breeders who said this is common with these guys. So maybe this is also common for the kingsnakes? He also sneezes, and we were told by the vet that he may be allergic to our cats. Doesn't show any outward signs of anything, and he's healthy, but he whistles and sneezes, and not all the time.

Correction: forgot to mention that mine is a Burm, not a Kingsnake. Sorry

I think she probably just has some natural variation in the morphology of her snout that makes her whistle when she exhales at a certain strength. Either way, it's cute as ****.

My carpet python did that for a bit, but I think he stopped after a shed. I haven't heard it in a while.
