Thanks, guys. Looking forward to putting more faces with names.
The hawk begs the question: Are you a practicing falconer?
I usually am. I haven't been practicing for the past few weeks. I released this year's hawk due to me moving and getting a new job. I decided I need some time to settle in and find enough after work hunting spots near my new home to make it work. I haven't decided if I'll try the second half of this season, or just wait until next fall.

I think I figured out how to post with a pic? I didn't realize there was a Go Advanced feature. Yes I'm slow.
Anyways, this is Fang. He was only supposed to be a babysitting "job" for the summer. I was terrified of snakes; had a healthy respect for them from a distance. Like palm sweaty, hyperventilating, going to throw up sort of terrified. And then there was Fang. That was June of 2016.
Now we have Edward and Bella (Columbian red tail boas), Tigger and Blossom (tiger retic, and lavender albino tiger retic, respectively), Iris (my baby albino Burmese. she's just over 4 feet and was almost 3 feet as a yearling when we got her), Storm and Cyclops (BCAs), Charlotte (Woma python), and Alex (super salmon). I love my babies!

Beards are where it's at brother. I had a rather large beard that I shaved off in April of 2016. I don't have a pic of it at the longest, but this pic will definitely do which was taken about 4 months before I shaved it off.

Need for warmth+want of manliness+interest in non high maintenance women+laziness^2

Harrison Ford, McGuyver, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Sean White, Silvester Stalone, Dwyne Johnson, Arnold Schwarzenegger...I can keep going....lol
I mainly grow a beard because the hair up top is falling out and my face is ugly so I cover it up. Never had that long of a beard before so I wanted to try it out. I didn't plan on growing it to that length, but people kept asking why and telling me to trim it...that was my motivation to keep it growing. I'd probably still have it if it weren't for trying to get a new job.
Note....beards do not dictate manliness.....

First off no one thinks Tom cruise is manly, and I have met Sean white several times over the years and those skinny genes just can't be considered a manly mans accessory.
Second even the rock locks more BA with a beard. What do you kids say these days, something about ruining a perfectly good microphone?

Haha I also have a bit of a baby face without my dear friend Mr. Beardly.

'Manly' is too subjective. We aren't cavemen any more where testosterone rules. If you like a beard, cool. But just because someone lacks one doesn't make them any less than someone who doesnt.
Oh, and as for the pics of Mr. Johnson. Why is it that people's perception of manly is always scowling or some other serious face? Recently joined the app game Game of War and like EVERY male avatar they have to choose from (bearded or not lol) has that same angry, scowling, serious face. Is it unmanly to smile too?

I don't think having a beard makes you anymore of a man than not having one :). I think its whats inside you and how you treat others makes you one. Call me old fashioned but that's just me :)

In many ways we are more evolved than cavemen and in many ways we are not. When you compare me to a caveman are you referring to the neanderthals or just early homo sapiens? I think someone who is smiling hasn't yet grasped that life sucks, therefore seeming more child like in nature. If you haven't picked up on it yet everything I have said is all very tongue in cheek.

Or maybe in a game where you start wars, scowling makes sense and the problem here is that the women don't so they seem more attractive?
Disclaimer: I've never actually played this game. I've just seen their ads with that one lady in a dress whose face probably gets less attention than average because of the rest of her.

Beards are more manly. It's just science. Like bacon is the perfect food. You can't argue with facts.
But, on a serious note, I have read studies where women tend to find men more attractive with a short beard. Now, obviously, that doesn't mean my beard makes me more attractive than a beardless Brad Pitt (or whoever is considered hot these days). But, it does apparently mean I'm a little more sexually attractive with a beard rather than without. I use my general dorkiness and reptiles to offset that though. So it's a wash.

Meso, sadly, I don't get alot of 'tongue and cheek' =(
As for the women in the game. They are cool, but why is it that scowling men are attractive but women aren't attractive if theu are scowling? Then they just look like a B lol.
Anyway, I digress. My apologies everyone. Please proceed with more awesome pics of you amd your scalies. =D

I also recently remember reading about a study here people were shown pictures of men with and with out beards and a majority said they had more respect for men with beards based on appearance alone. I found this interesting, but it has little to do with my beardedness.

Just for the sake of correctness the saying is 'tongue in cheek'. It is derived from the devious facial expression one makes by putting their tongue to the side of their mouth while smirking. If I am ever talking myself up you can assume it is in a joking fashion. Honestly my lack of regard for the opinions of others borderlines on autistic. I also disagree about the woman scowling piece, Mila Jovovich has made an entire career of sexy scowls.

Lol why am I not surprised your thread turned into beard discussions Dave. To the belly button sounds excessive...
Three year old photo from Ireland. Chopped off a lot of the hair since then but pretty much look the same. I don't actually like having my photo taken so there isn't any newer ones to use.

I see two particular items in that pique my interest:
The leather glove.
The sign that appears to say falconry on it.

Yes that was the second hawk walk. Went once then had to do it again before leaving the area. The second time we got to have two out at once.

I always forget that Riddick is female.
Also, it's funny that in Europe, which looked down on american falconry for decades, they probably fly more american harris hawks and red tailed hawks than birds native to that side of the world.
