It's not exactly official just yet since I don't have the down payment for it until after Christmas, but the guy at the store said he would hold it for me until next friday anyway. I may be biting off more than I can chew, but I won't know for a few years anyway since it's just a baby.
Do you know what it is?
=)
(Those who already know please don't guess lol)

Dang...that was fast....LOL
Indeed. He isa year and a half old super dwarf/dwarf mix. He's also a tiger morph. I got some pics but they kinda suck and need to be resozed for here. So I'll post a few in a bit.

Welcome to the retic club Mink and looking forward to seeing pics of your new boy, and you'll do just fine with him :)
@ Dave that was bloody quick guess mate I would have been here for a month of Sundays with this one :D

I actually got another new addition, I just haven't said anything about her. I won't piddle around with the guessing game this time lol. She is a tessera corn snake. Pretty vibrant contrasting colors. Got her on a trade for an old exoterra gecko tank lol. So far her name is Chezza.
The prospective name of my (hopefully) future retic is Apollo. He was super tame while being handled and after a while just perched on my shoulder and chilled, observing the rest of the store as I walked ariund and hung out. He is about a year and a half old and still on the 'small' side so 'probably' has a high % of SD in him. We know for sure that one of his parents were pure SD, not sure if the other was pure dwarf, or also an SD/D mix. Estimated adult size is expected to be around 8-10 feet. He has been on a steady feeding schedule since he was with his breeder, not just a 'maintenance' schedule, so his size is pretty true. He came from a trusted breeder the guys at the store know very well, and the store is also super trusted. They have flat out refused the sale of a retic or burm before if they didn't feel the person wanting it was capable. So I feel a bit honored that they were actually HAPPY I fell in love and want it so bad lol. Probably why they said they would hold it without a deposit for me for a week.
Anyway, here are some pics!

That is a super looking snake, those colours are awesome

I agree! For both of them lol.
Inwas particularly impressed woth the retic though. He was very silvery and cream colored. Kind of like a dark coffee latte or something. He has a bit of orangy highlights and some rainbow effect to his scales, and hisbeyes are really cool. They are silber but ringed in that bright orange some reticts are known for. Hard to catch all of that woth a phone camera while the little worm wouldn't stop moving lol.

Beautiful corn you got Mink and I think you'd be bonkers not to take the retic he looks stunning even in those pics ;)
Can't go wrong with a new corn and a retic. They look awesome!

I just hope the reric really does stick to the size he 'should' be. I can't handle a 12 foot snake on my own and have no friends to help out, so I know if he gets bigger than 10 feet, I will have to rehome him for safety reasons. =(

If that retic is a 1.5 years old at that size and not maintenance fed as you said mate I'd say there's a real good chance he'll never get over 10ft

^_^
That really makes me happy to hear.
Do you think even at 10 feet he could be handled by just me? I know rule of thumb is to have an extra person past 8 feet, but the guys at the store said the breeder works with the more slender built retucics, so he will never really have girth unless over fed (which won't happen with me).

Probably. It's easier with more people. I cleaned out Lily's mouth on my own this morning. Interesting morning but it wasn't too bad haha
Beautiful retic!

I've worked with Jenny at around 10ft on my own and it was a work out. I kept her mostly on the ground. The few times she was up round me I was very careful to not allow her around my neck. Imo the most dangerous time with one of these snakes is feeding time and getting it out of the viv then again this is just my opinion mate :)

Yeah messing with lily was a work out. Even with another it can be a work out. I wouldn't want to mess worth my platinum in the cage at 10ft on my own he's a bit desperate About food. Even Cleo can be iffy in the cage until she realizes no food is coming.

No I didn't make myself clear the most dangerous time is feeding then closely followed by anytime you go to remove one from the viv :D. At least that's how it is with Jenny, everytime the door opens its dinner time until you get her tapped. Unfortunately when she's sitting at the door and comes flying out it can be a bit unnerving but you get used to it :)

If this was a carpet or a boa that had a chance of hitting this size would most people even question the two people rule. Just a thought mate :)

Beautiful retic, so jealous.:Wow:
Beautiful snake mink. At ten feet is when most retics start putting on weight, not just length. 8-9' you'll have no problem on your own. 10' is a toss up, and every animals body structure is different. Over 10' you'll want to at least have someone in the room with you.

Yeah, I will just have to learn and grow with him and hope he stays 'small' and manageable. I am scared and excited for this new step! =)

Beautiful new additions Mink. Nice step up with the retic. I've been tempted to make that leap myself :).

Thanks mate :), and please don't pick me up wrong here I'm not being cheeky but reason I posted this pick was to show the size difference ;). Mink,s little guy is older and not even maintenance fed and younger than Jenny in these pics and the size difference is ridiculous, if you see what I mean :). Mink I say go for it mate :)
