Ran up to Waco today with a buddy today to pick up a B. gabonica and a few enclosures and while up there he mentioned he just picked up an Atrox (Western Diamond Back) as a surrender. So, he asked if I wanted it and now I have it.

This little girl is fired up, and this pic defiantly shows her attitude.

Quick update, she is somewhat settled in. A 4 hour drive in a 5 gallon bucket tends to lead to a pissy snake.

Overall the age was estimated to be around a year or 2. Hard to tell, but she does seem healthy. Vet check up will be done Wednesday.

So far so good with her. She does OK on a hook, and if I can work with her some more on that she will be part of my program for the Boy Scouts in my area. First feed will be on the evening of the 25th, and hopefully we can skip the transition to F/t phase.

Good luck with her and hopefully she'll switch to F/T with no problems, keep us posted on how she's getting on please :)

She looks ready to take on anything you put in the cage. Nice pickup!

She took her first meal today, f/t rat pup. Struck, watched it for a bit and by the time I got back from the retics second feeding, rat was gone.

Hoping the sun will come out for a bit so I can get some play sand for her enclosure. All the bags at my local Home Depot were water logged today.

Finally had a few dry days and was able to pick up some play sand. Couple pics. Hoping to pick up some slate this week and make a natural hide for Mrs. Always Pissy.

Beautiful girl. I love hots, they are so stunning in their own way. I could never keep them personally as I am a mega clutz and the likelihood of something bad happening would be pretty significant lol. I just live vicariously through those who keep and show them off :)

She is the exact reason why I discourage people from getting hots. Was given to me as a sweet calm guy (person thought it was male, it is actually female), but she is actually psycho.

The other reason I try to talk people out of it, is because if I can talk you out of getting a hot, then you definitely didn't need one.

Retics are amazing snakes I also love burms, but they really are toys compered to hots imo. Our albino male burm bit me when he was around 8ft, complete my fault I didn't tap him when reaching in to get his water bowl. All it took after the bite was to pull a tooth from hand, get the bleeding stopped and a couple of band aids for the cuts. I know I got off light on that occasion and it could have been a lot worse, but if I had made the same mistake with a rattler, rhino, or cobra, well a couple of band aids weren't gonna sort out the problem. Personally I'll never keep hots because of medical reasons but more importantly I don't think I'd ever be up for the mental challenge, like I said if I make a mistake and get bit, then all I do is bring the public down on the venomous community, and that's something I'd never do just for my own selfish reasons of having an animal I know in my heart I was never safe with in the first place
