Hey guys, I just recently purchased a ball python and it is still very young. I handle it daily but every time I do he's constantly trying to get away. Is he telling me he doesn't like being held or just being curious? Thanks for replies in advance!

Most snakes will not just sit still. Some try and escape while others are just wanting to explore new surroundings. It sounds like you're handling him too often which can cause stress and other issues.

Congrats on the new python. Just don't handle it so often as it's a new acquisition and needs time to settle into a new enviornment. The more daily handling you do is more of a setback in acclimation. Baby ball pythons need very tight hides and real security in the early stages of new housing.

In general babies of all species are energetic and wiggly. Be sure to give a day of rest to keep from over stressing.

When I first got my BP's I didn't handle them for a week so they could settle in with no stress
Snakes should be feeding regularly before being handled so hopefully you've had it eat a few times. Keep in mind that they don't enjoy handling...we enjoy handling them and they will either tolerate it or they'll do what they can to get away and get you to stop. Sounds like you're handling a bit too much so follow the advice already given on here and with a bit of size your snake will probably mellow out significantly but it may not happen as quickly as you hope.
