How do gerbils compare in nutrients to rats or mice? I tried to search but only got some vague comments about them being fattier and lots of pet rodent keeping sites. I'm deciding what to feed mainly my bullsnake in the near future. I'm going to grab him a few hoppers but he should probably move up to juvenile mice or rat fuzzy size soon. I have a baby corn snake on pinkies probably showing up thursday. The person is being difficult but hopefully it happens. A gerbil is a lot more slender than an equivalent weight of rat when going down. They aren't as blocky and especially in the shoulder bones. How heavily can I rely on them though or should I also keep some equivalent size rats or mice on hand for part to majority of the diet? The mouse breeding project proved failure for now and may be pursued in the future with a different setup but mice stink horribly compared to gerbils. (They also escaped  )

Not sure on the nutritive value in gerbils but the fur they have is more than rats. They are much less offensive in the odor department than mice for sure. The gerbils are really hard to find in general. Even harder to find as frozen thawed.

I breed gerbils. I have a 2gallon container of adults in the freezer. I'm waiting on some juveniles to be certain of gender before they join the freezer critters.
