Welp...as I had mentioned in my previous thread, I had my eye out on an MBK on Craigslist. The guy never put any contact info up, but it did manage to give me the itch and I couldn't shake it.

Anyway, I scooped up this young Florida king snake and a 12x12x18 exo-terra tank for $50. I'll be moving him to a 20g asap, but I'm glad I got the tank which I may use for some frogs. There are a couple of things that concerned me though. He was freezing when I picked him up and drank A TON of water when I filled up his bowl, then went back for more after about five minutes. He's active and alert, but after those two things I'm just hoping he's alright. I'm sure he'll settle in nicely though.

I'm sure he's fine Bandit...Florida can get pretty cold at times during the night, right? They're a very hardy species and I'm sure you'll give him the care he deserves.

Yeah I think he's fine. The real thing that concerned me was that after he drank all that water, he looked like he was having some trouble. Sort of like when they eat and have to wiggle the rat down their body, but he did it for like 3 minutes or so (and he hadn't actually eaten anything). Since then he's been doing well.

Enjoy the new King! They're a fun snake. It was prob a bit dehydrated and needed a big drink. I'm sure it will be just fine and nothing to worry about.

He's been doing great. I fed him last night and he ate without any issues. I'll give him a couple days and then handle him.

Here's another picture of him (before he ate).

Thanks everyone. I wound up feeding him again today. I usually space the feedings out a bit more, but he's been on the hunt constantly since I fed him on Monday. So I went ahead and fed him two rat fuzzies. He fits in nicely with my other two snakes as far as appetite goes for sure.

I believe another member had mentioned this behavior before and I think it was labelled as defensive behavior.

Possibly, but I wasn't even standing over him. I was watching him drink from across the room and when he finished drinking he started doing it. Either way, he's been doing great, so I'm not worried about it.
